Providing seamless vision of Africa’s airspace

Many parts of Africa lack air surveillance technology, unable to see the aircraft in their skies.

An Overview:

Many parts of Africa lack air surveillance technology, unable to see the aircraft in their skies.

While they can communicate with the air pilots entering and exiting the country, this limited visibility can undermine the safety of the airspace. Collection of overflight fees can also suffer without a full view of who is making use of the airspace in real time.

NavPass partnered with a country in Southern Africa to make the seamless vision of all the planes in its airspace a reality.

The Solution:

NavPass installed, serviced and maintained an infrastructure of antennas, satellites, and equipment to monitor and track all aircraft in the country’s sovereign airspace.

We provided a cyber secure internet connection for these antennas, so the information can be fed into an online portal providing an ariel, 3D view of all the aircraft in the area.

And now with a 3D view of all the aircraft using the airspace and their directions, we integrated our automated overflight fee collection system. Securing a 68 per cent increase in the fees collected.
